Motive was founded by Paul Lauer, who has pioneered the development, production, sales, marketing, and distribution of media, entertainment, and consumer products worldwide for the last 20 years. Lauer is also one of the most well connected entrepreneurs in the Faith and Family Market, having most recently designed and executed the highly-successful marketing campaign for Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” for Icon Productions.
Lauer has gone on to manage grass roots outreach campaigns for the Tom Hanks/Robert Zemeckis film, “The Polar Express,” as well as the record breaking Walden Media/Disney epic series, “The Chronicles of Narnia.” In addition, Lauer has assisted with the marketing and distribution of numerous independent film projects.
In 2002, having experienced first-hand the challenges of bringing independent faith-based and family-friendly films to market, Lauer conceived Motive Entertainment as the missing link to solve this “distribution dilemma”.
Lauer has served as president for three media companies: Veritas Communications, Publishing Services, and Lauer & Associates. Lauer was the founder and publisher of the award-winning YOU! Magazine, published worldwide in six languages (3,700,000 copies distributed), and Youth Beat, a syndicated youth page with 1,000,000 circulation. He has worked with numerous celebrities and sports stars, hosted radio and TV shows, produced the World Youth Day Music Festival for over 100,000 people (Denver, 1993), produced documentary television, authored four books, and has appeared on TV talk shows and in over 50 newspapers and magazines, including the Los Angeles Times and the Wall St. Journal.
In 1999, he began work as Executive Producer of “Eternal City,” an IMAX-format film on Rome, and ROMAX, the first IMAX-format theater in Italy. Shortly thereafter he spent two years helping to launch Internet start-ups as senior vice president at both Universal Internet and webBASIS, where he pioneered initiatives with Hewlett Packard, Cisco, and Oracle. Lauer is a graduate of UCLA. He lives with his wife and kids in Westlake Village, CA.
Motive oversees a team of specialists with proven track records in marketing, publicity and distribution.
